The School of Ordained Ministry (SOM) in the [[diocese-northwest-texas|Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas]] provides theological education and spiritual formation for individuals called to serve as priests and deacons. It specifically serves talented students who are unable to attend a residential seminary.

Curriculum

Based on the Iona School for Ministry in the Diocese of Texas, the program spans three years with monthly sessions. The curriculum integrates:

• Academic Study: Bible, Church History, and Theology/Christian Ethics.
• Practical Preparation: Spirituality, Liturgy and Music, Theory and Practice of Ministry, and Social Justice.

Throughout the program, students collaborate with active clergy to discern and shape their future ministries while continuing to live and work in their local communities.

Financial Aid

• [[news-3216428|Rev. David Huxley Scholarship]]: Created in 2017 by the 2017–2018 SOM graduating class to support students facing financial barriers. The fund covers tuition, books, and travel costs.
