The Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas provides medical and dental insurance plans for clergy and lay employees through the Church Pension Group (CPG).

Coverage Parity & Opt-Outs

Churches must maintain parity. Whatever medical plan is offered to clergy must be offered to all lay employees working at least 1,500 hours annually. Employees may only opt out of the Medical Trust if covered by:

  • A spouse's medical plan
  • TRICARE or a previous employer's COBRA plan

Active Members Aged 65+

Members qualifying for Medicare Secondary Payer plans must contact Elizabeth Jones (ejones@nwtdiocese.org) and consult the Diocese and CPG prior to meeting with Medicare to discuss available options.

Cigna Behavioral Health EAP

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is automatically included for medical plan enrollees. A stand-alone EAP is available for qualified non-members who have opted out of medical coverage.

  • ACA Compliance: Employers must pay 100% of the cost for stand-alone EAP. Requiring employee contributions violates the ACA.
  • Enrollment: Group administrators must enroll eligible employees via MLPS.

Plan documents are available at cpg.org/mtdocs.
